An immersive, virtual climb experience that brings awareness to a serious global crisis.
When Goodby, Silverstein & Partners wanted to create a site that was as tall as Mt. Kilimanjaro for HP and the Summit on the Summit organization, they were told it would be technically impossible. We helped make it possible and brought awareness to the global clean water crisis by tracking the journey of 17 climbers as they scaled the tallest mountain in Africa.
New ways for users to participate: Visitors could send tweets to specific altitudes of the climb to encourage the climbers and spread the word about the cause. Sponsoring a Foot allowed visitors to donate money to the cause and secure an exclusive place on the virtual mountain.
Photos, videos and tweets from the 17 climbers were posted to the site as they climbed up the 19,340ft African peak. The site displayed the content at the same altitude the climbers created it, giving visitors a unique, virtual climb experience.
To make the project possible, we worked with the Summit on the Summit organization to create a hardware and software strategy to capture weather conditions, vital statistics, and messages at every step of the climb.
